Be surprised by Costa Rica’s underground adventures

With over 340 caves, Costa Rica offers a mysterious glimpse into the geological and biological wonders beneath the surface. While the Venado Caves and Barra Honda in Guanacaste are the most well-known, Into Nature invites you to venture further — to a lesser-known cave far from civilisation, surrounded by untouched jungle and unspoilt beauty.

Visiting a cave is like entering another world.
In the cool darkness, you will find towering stalagmites and hanging stalactites — striking calcite formations sculpted by centuries of dripping water. Caves are also home to colonies of bats, providing a rare opportunity to observe these fascinating mammals in their natural habitat and even take photographs of them.

The Experience

The adventure begins with a scenic jungle hike alongside a river through a narrow gorge awe-inspiring journey in itself. Once inside the cave, the trail continues alongside an underground river through wide chambers and tight tunnels, each with its own dramatic features.

This tour is only available during the dry season (January to April), when the cave is accessible and the water levels are safe. The total walk takes about two hours.

Please note that this adventure is not suitable for those with claustrophobia, as certain sections of the cave are narrow and enclosed. However, for those who are ready for it, this is one of our most thrilling and unforgettable journeys, a hidden world waiting to be discovered.

Into Nature will help you plan the ultimate trip away and show you the best of wherever you visit.
