Take a special night-time walk through pristine nature and step into a world of vibrant colours, delicate sounds and rainforest mysteries. This exclusive Into Nature experience will take you deep into the jungle, far from other tourists, to one of the best spots in the country to observe Costa Rica’s most iconic frogs in their natural habitat.

On this walk, you’ll encounter some of Costa Rica’s most remarkable amphibians, including:
- The bright red-eyed tree frog
- Two species of poison dart frog
- The elusive, almost transparent glass frogs are so small (barely 2 cm) that you can see their intestines, like nature’s X-ray!
As well as frogs, you may also see spiders, snakes, some nocturnal mammals, night birds such as owls and potoos and other nocturnal wildlife. You will be guided by a highly experienced guide who will ensure your safety and respect the delicate balance of the forest.
Glass frogs (Centrolenidae) are most active and visible during the rainy season in Costa Rica, making it the best time to spot them.

May to November: Rainy (Green) Season
- Glass frogs are nocturnal, becoming particularly active after sunset on humid, rainy nights
- They gather near streams and rivers to breed, which makes them easier to find
- Their distinctive call helps to guide people to them in the dark

- The Caribbean lowlands (e.g. Tortuguero, Sarapiqui and Bananito)
- Southern Pacific zones (e.g. the Osa Peninsula)
- The foothills of Tenorio and Monteverde
The Tour Experience
Your adventure begins just before dusk. For about two hours, you will walk alongside a small river deep within the rainforest, fully immersed in nature. Equipped with rubber boots, torches and, if needed, raincoats, you will explore with your senses heightened, searching for rare and beautiful creatures.
This is an essential experience for nature lovers, photographers and anyone captivated by the magic of the wild at night.
